With development getting hot and heavy, I thought it would be time to start talking about The Grey Forest Wellness Community.
Over all of the years of being a patient and then working with people, there are two areas where medicine (across the board) falls short:
1) Helping people with clear, concise, (hopefully) unbiased information
2) Providing support

Looking back to when I was initially diagnosed with Celiac (way back in 1998, from my Dr unintentionally ordering the “wrong” lab test), the only advice that I was given, was “you should probably go on a gluten free diet”.
No guidance. No instruction. No support.
Great……….
Thankfully, things are MUCH different now and through the gift of the Interwebs we have access to more information than we could ever consume in a lifetime, as well as folks that are going through the same thing, or something similar.
With sites like Reddit (shout out to my Redditors from your “Functional Medicine DC”), people have built communities that share stories, information, and commiseration. The problem with those things is, they’re not usually moderated by practitioners, the information that gets shared doesn’t often have much scientific backing or clinical experience, and bias is – well….rampant.
But, at least they’re easy access. Most of that stuff is free. After all, There’s another elephant in the room. Money.
From patients, from prospective clients, from the public at large, one of the things I hear over and over is – “Functional Medicine is too expensive”. And through a lot of practitioners, that’s very true. Expensive, often unnecessary tests, crazy mandatory supplement purchase protocols, and inadequate (but spendy) follow-ups where you’re still on your own doesn’t “sell” it either.
Ok, so… what does that mean? It means clinically-proven, concise information on testing, nutrition, and supplement protocols, a group of folks dedicated to working on their health and well-being (that’s YOU), access to courses with coaching, a space to ask questions, provider-led online meet-ups, and so much more.

The goal of Grey Forest Community is to provide access to Functional Medicine for Everyone.
This is not your recruiting, selling, endless advertising, vague, “buy my protocol” site. It’s a place to find information, answers, and guidance.
As we get a little bit closer to the release date, I’ll be sharing a lot more details about specifics, pricing (it’s gonna be reasonable – I promise!), beta testing (yes, I’ll need beta testers), etc.
This is my labor of love – something that I needed when I was trying to navigate my own issues (long before I went into medicine – and one of the reasons WHY I went into medicine). I cannot wait for this to happen.
I’ll see all of you soon!

Dr Andrea
